Ervin and Lois Krueger, my grandparents, started Tee-Aire Golf in 1970. Tee-Aire was originally supposed to be developed on Pilgrim Road but due to zoning restrictions could not be built there. Grandpa had to look for a new piece of property and found our location, which at the time was a piece of farmland just across Capitol Drive from his brother Harold’s Lawn and Garden Shop (which is now Krause Funeral Home). When Capitol Drive was expanded in the late 1960s our road was renamed Gumina after the neighbor just next door. The Tee-Aire Clubhouse was constructed in 1970 and the A-Frame addition, which is our home, was completed in 1973.
Cal, my dad, started working at Tee-Aire during high school. Grandma held down the fort during the week while Cal was in school. During the summers Grandma and Cal ran the business and Grandpa helped out on the weekends. During the week he was still running his other local business which he sold in 1978 to work at Tee-Aire full time. Like Cal, I started working at Tee-Aire during high school and into college. After graduating college with my engineering degree, I moved to Colorado where I worked as a brewery engineer for 7 years. During my time in Colorado I met Laura and in 2020 we relocated back to Wisconsin to take over the family business.
Three generations, three dynamic duos, over 50 years of welcoming your families to our home and our little family-owned business. Laura and I are so grateful that you choose to spend your hard-earned money here at Tee-Aire. That you visit us to create memories with your family, like the fond memories I have of growing up here. Thank you for supporting our business. We look forward to many more years of providing family-friendly fun and creating lasting memories.
